A large country house complex characterizing the territory where increased functionality was wanted, by converting some areas – at one time used for farming activities – into use for conviviality and exhibiting. A project that started by meticulously preserving and restoring particular terracotta arches, original roofbeams, insertions and stairs in pietra serena and then moved on to consolidate the building and reorganize the rooms so as to restore the allure of its ancient history, dense with still-alive memories, while creating the contemporary new exhibition function in the main rooms. The pale tones of the new finishings show respect for the pre-existing, and consequently accentuate materials like terracotta, wood, and pietra serena which seem to expand into the space. The pale surface colours complement the minimalist contemporary furnishings that reprise the simple lines of the lighting fixtures. The renovation was all-inclusive as the studio worked on everything from the urban planning and structural aspects to the interior design project.
